What can I help you with?

I provide counselling services in Hobart, Tasmania or online.

I can meet you in a counselling room in Hobart or do walk and talk sessions.

I also work online with clients from all over the world - so you can talk to me from the comfort of your home at the time that suits you best.

The process

I start with a free 15-minute call to get to know you and give you the opportunity to ask questions. Then if you would like to work with me, we will start by a $150 1.5-hour intake session and follow up with regular $125 1-hour sessions based on your availability and needs and goals.

Unfortunately counsellors are not recognised under Medicare and are not eligible to offer mental health care plans, but I offer concessions rates to people in difficult situations.

Grief and Loss

Grief and loss is often understood mainly in relation to bereavement. My counselling training has helped me understand that the devastation I felt after my experiences of workplace bullying and a car accident were linked to all the losses these incurred for me. This helped me to give myself the right to grieve everything I had lost and to make space for everything that is now in my life. Because of this, I aim to help all my clients open their eyes as to their own losses, not just what we usually acknowledge as losses in this society.

Pain and Illness

I have lived with chronic pain for 6 years and have had a long journey before "having my life back on track".
I get how disempowering, frustrating and depressing, it can be to feel pain from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed.
This is why I know that counselling can make a difference and life can be beautiful even when your health is not perfect, or not what it used to be.
Wherever you are on your journey of living with pain or illness, get in touch if you think I can help empower you to live a life where pain or illness is only a part of what you are - no longer what drains all your time and energy.

Separation and Relationships

Relationships are often very closely tied to the reason why people seek counselling. Relationships at home, at work, with parents, siblings, colleagues. We tend to think that relationships come naturally because human beings are social creatures but I think we could not be more wrong on anything - human beings are complex so relationships are HARD.
Sometimes relationship issues end in separation or divorce, which is one of these life challenges that many people think "you just get over". I instead don't hesitate to say that separation can be one of the most traumatising events in our adult lives and should be treated as such.

Trauma and PTSD

Trauma is a topic that is very close to my heart because I didn't realise mental health was a thing until I went through the dual trauma of workplace bullying and a car accident. Through my studies as well as my own experiences, I have learnt that working with trauma is more about how you experience what happened to you, rather than the incident or experience itself. Because trauma affects the whole body, I continuously attend professional development to explore options that go beyond talk therapy in order to help you process the emotions locked within the body.

Women’s Health and Issues

Everything that women do or don't do is judged - our choice to have children or not, our career aspirations, our physical appearance. It is my core belief that we women would all benefit from standing together, acknowledging and supporting each other's reality.
Being a counsellor gives me the privilege to help women realise that they are "doing enough".
Here are examples of situations I can help with: childfree life, family violence, health issues, (pre-)menopause, perinatality and parenthood, sexual assault including child abuse, etc.

Work Stress, Bullying and Harassment

Work has been taking a bigger and bigger place in people's lives. Sometimes job and financial security are a concern, and our work and personal lives are getting tangled more than ever.

With so much time spent working or thinking about work, the potential for our jobs to impact on our mental health is at an all-times high. My own experience of losing not just a job but a career and my place in the world due to workplace bullying, and my years spent in therapy and studying to help others, make this a key area where I want to to help people not just to recover but to thrive.
